Screenshot of the profile page from Paul's professional Twitter/X account (@PaulSceeny_AdEd). The photo states "I am no longer on this toxic platform" and the bio states "I am no longer using this account. I have left it dormant only in order to protect my handle and archive."
I have changed my bio and photo on both my professional and personal Twitter/X accounts to display this message

Like many people, I've been mulling over how long I could continue to be on Twitter/X. I haven't posted actively on either my professional or personal accounts for some time, though have still doom-scrolled regularly and occasionally liked and/or RTed the odd sensible contribution.

I set up my personal Twitter account in early 2009, so taking the decision to leave it behind was a bit of a wrench. And between the two accounts I still had nearly 2,000 followers (I used to have a lot more, before Musk's dodgy algorithms got to work). I long for the Twitter of old: occasionally infuriating, but in many respects a good place to connect with people. But sadly that's long gone.

But the recent revelations about Grok have been the final straw. I haven't deleted my accounts, as I don't want to lose control of my handles or archive, but I will no longer be monitoring or interacting on either account.

LinkedIn is now my platform of choice, and sometimes Facebook for personal stuff. I'm also on Bluesky (the jury's still out in terms of what I think), and occasionally lurk on Threads.

But you'll no longer find me on Musk's cesspit.
